MENS COMPETITIONS
Presidents Cup
* Presented by Sir Nicholas Cayzer Bart, in 1975.
* The draw for this knockout competition will be published in early April and completed by 30th September.
* The winner will be decided by singles matchplay .
* Green tees will be used throughout the competition.
* A maximum handicap index of 15.6 will be used. Competitors with a higher index will be limited to 15.6.
* Details of entry will be published in early March
The Brigs Cup
Presented by Brigadier J Moffat CBE in 1963
* The competition is a 36 hole scratch medal to determine the Club Champion.
* All Gentlemen members with a handicap index are eligible to compete
* Green tees will be used
* This is a qualifying competition
* Details of entry will be posted one month before the day of the competition.
Vincent Goblet
* Presented by Air Vice Marshall Vincent
* This is an 18 hole medal play competition for gentlemen with a maximum handicap index of 28 and is usually played on the same morning as the opening round of the Brigs Cup
* The winner will be the player with the best nett score
* Green tees will be used
* This is a qualifying competition

* Instituted in 1914
* This is an 18 hole stableford competition for gentlemen with a maximum handicap index of 28
* Green tees are to be used
* This is a qualifying competition
The Hengrave Challenge Bowl
* Presented by Sir John Wood in 1902
* Qualifying 18 hole stableford rounds may be played between 1st and 31st May.
* The dates of the qualifying rounds will be found in the Club Diary
* 8 Players with the best stableford scores will be entered into a draw for the matchplay conclusion to this competition
* Singles matchplay will be played using full handicap difference
* Gentlemen members must have a handicap index to compete
* Green tees will be used throughout
* Stableford rounds will be qualifying for handicapping purposes.
The Jubilee Bowl
* Presented by Lady Briggs in 1935
* Qualifying 18 hole stableford rounds may be played between 1st and 30th of April
* The players with the best 8 qualifying rounds will be entered into a draw for the matchplay conclusion of this competition.
* Singles matchplay will be played using full handicap difference
* The dates of the qualifying rounds can be found in the Club Diary
* The competition is open to Men and Ladies with a handicap index, there are no restrictions.
* Men will use the green tees and ladies the gold.
* Stableford rounds for the Jubilee Bowl will be qualifying for handicap purposes.
* Smiley Cup ( Captain's Prize)
* Presented by Sir John Smiley in 1914
* This is an 18 hole medal competition for Gentlemen with a handicap index of 28 or less.
* Green tees will be used
* This is a qualifying competition
The Long Handicap Cup
* Presented by HR Clarke in 1935
* The competition is to be played between 1st April and 30th September
* The format is singles matchplay using the full handicap allowance
* The competition is open to Gentlemen members with a handicap index of 15.7 or above.
* Green tees will be used.
The Steve Edwards Memorial Cup
* An 18 hole stableford competition for ladies and gentlemen over the age of 60 on or before the day of the competition.
* Players must have a handicap index
* Gentlemen will play from the Silver tees and Ladies from the Gold.
* This is a qualifying competition
The Centenary Cup
* Presented by K J Underwood in 1995
* This is an 18 hole stableford competition for Gentlemen ( Handicap index limit 28) and Ladies ( Handicap Index limit 36)
* Gentlemen will use the Green tees and Ladies the Gold
* This is a qualifying competition
The Mole Cup
* Presented by the Mole family in memory of Dr R H B Mole
* The competition will be played between November and the following April
* The format is foursomes matchplay. The handicap allowance is half the difference between the combined handicaps
* Open to Gentlemen members with a maximum handicap index of 28
* Green tees will be used unless weather prohibits, when Silver may be used.
* A draw will be made prior to the competition
The Millenium Vase
* Presented by H M Bowling esq. in 2000
* The competition will be played between November and the following April.
* The format is 4 Ball matchplay. The handicap allowance is 90% of the difference between the lowest handicapped player and the other three players, individually.
* Open to Gentlemen with a handicap index of 28 or less.
* Green tees will be used
* A draw will be made before the competition.
Sheerin Tolhurst Cup
* Presented by Mrs J Sheerin and Mrs V Tolhurst in 2000.
* The competition is a nine hole stableford event for Gentlemen over the age of 65 on the day of the competition.
* Open to all players with a handicap index.
* Gold tees will be used.
* This is a qualifying competition.
The Cochrane Bowls
* Presented by Dr A Cochrane in 2014
* The competition will be played between April and September.
* The format is Greensomes matchplay. The handicap allowance is as published in the tables displayed at the Club.
* Open to Gentlemen with a handicap index of 28 or less.
* Green tees will be used.
* A draw will be made before the competition.
The Coronation Trophy
* Presented by Mr R Cooper in 2023 to celebrate the coronation of King Charles.
* The event is open to Gentlemen and Ladies with a handicap index, and is a stableford competition played over the Sir John Wood Course.
* Handicap allowance will be 95%
